How to Plan a Hudson Valley Wedding Weekend Your Guests Will Actually Enjoy
Friday needs a place to gather, Saturday needs a bus, Sunday needs coffee. That is most of it.
By Hudson Valley Hitched

A Hudson Valley wedding often becomes a weekend whether you plan one or not. Guests drive up Friday. They stay Saturday. Many leave Sunday. The question is whether those hours feel intentional or whether everyone spends half the weekend texting each other asking what they are supposed to do.
It needs less structure than you think
A good Hudson Valley wedding weekend needs surprisingly little structure. Friday needs a place to gather. Saturday needs reliable transportation. Sunday needs coffee and food. That is enough.
For couples using destination properties such as Cedar Lakes Estate, Gather Greene or Foxfire Mountain House, much of the weekend can happen on-site. These properties are built around multi-day gatherings rather than a single reception.
If guests are staying in town, use the town
Beacon guests can walk Main Street, eat well and wander before the wedding shuttle arrives. Hudson guests can explore Warren Street. New Paltz puts restaurants, shops and the Shawangunks within reach, and Kingston works particularly well when guests are clustered around Uptown or the waterfront.
The two mistakes
The biggest mistake is over-scheduling. Guests do not need a planned activity every two hours. Give them recommendations and let them decide.
The second mistake is scattering guests across too many hotels. One hotel block with a clear transportation plan is often better than five lodging suggestions spread across a 30-mile radius.
And do not forget Sunday. A farewell brunch does not have to be another catered event. Coffee, bagels and breakfast sandwiches may be exactly what everybody wants.
The best wedding weekends leave enough room for people to enjoy the Hudson Valley rather than simply moving them from one wedding event to another. Think gathering, wedding, recovery. That is a very good three-day plan.
