Hudson Valley Wedding Venues That Aren't Barns

Search for a Hudson Valley wedding and you will see barns almost immediately. There are beautiful ones. But the Hudson Valley has far more to offer than rustic weddings.

Estates and resorts

For dramatic Hudson River views, Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison combines a Neoclassical mansion, formal gardens, orchards and a large pavilion overlooking the river. It feels much closer to a historic estate wedding than a country barn wedding.

Mohonk Mountain House is another category entirely. The Victorian resort overlooks a private glacial lake and the Shawangunk Mountains, giving couples the feel of an old-world mountain resort without leaving the Hudson Valley.

Arrow Park in Monroe offers a historic mansion, lake, beach, forest and gardens on one private estate. Couples can hold the ceremony outside and then use the mansion or banquet spaces rather than designing the wedding around a barn.

Wineries, hotels and industrial rooms

For wine lovers, Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville hosts weddings at one of the region's historic winery properties. Its Grand Salon and cobblestone patio create a completely different atmosphere from a farm wedding.

In Hudson, The Maker offers intimate celebrations inside highly designed spaces, including its Conservatory, Rose Room and Lounge. These are rooms for a small wedding, a rehearsal dinner or an intimate reception rather than a sprawling one, and that is the appeal.

Beacon offers another direction. The Roundhouse combines an industrial setting with views of Beacon Falls, with a large room beside the waterfall for a full reception and smaller spaces for dinners and cocktail gatherings.

And couples who like architecture more than rustic details should look at properties such as INNESS, where the design mixes historic building techniques with contemporary interiors and wide Catskill views.

Look past the first page of results

So if mason jars, burlap and rustic wood are not your thing, do not write off the Hudson Valley. Search instead for mansions, hotels, resorts, wineries, industrial spaces, historic properties and riverfront venues. There is an entirely different Hudson Valley wedding hiding behind the barns.
